About

profile picHi everyone, my name is May Oo Tha, but you can call me May Oo! I’m a 23-year old graduate student studying Digital Media Production and the author of this food blog, Frugal Healthy Bites. Before we get to me talking about the blog, I’d like you to get to know me better.

I was born and raised in Yangon, Burma, and then I moved to Texas for undergraduate college. Moving to a whole new continent, I was thrown into a completely different culture, surrounded with new and exciting things. Amidst all of that, my love for food never wavered. I love food of every kind: American, Italian, Mediterranean, Chinese, and of course, South East Asian food, like Thai, Vietnamese and Burmese. After college, I realized I needed to change my life into a more responsible one, that I needed to take care of myself by eating healthier than I did in college. No more college ramen. No more gulping sodas with McDonald fries. Eating clean starts here right now.

The goal of this blog is to provide my readers with easy, affordable, healthy recipes for breakfast and lunch that I’ve curated throughout these few months plus new ones I haven’t tried. Eating healthy is one thing, but eating healthy on a budget is another thing: it’s so much more challenging! As a graduate student with no full time job, budgeting is essentially the way to go because, let’s face it, that’s what being a responsible adult is about, in my book anyways. So, I’d like to take you on a journey – my journey – of cooking and eating well without cashing out your wallet. In a blog post, you can expect to see pictures of the cooking process, recipes, brief description about specific healthy ingredients. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy!  🙂
